Mylo - The Wee Hemp Dog
The inspiration & back story of The Wee Hemp Company. Rebecca is a social butterfly, she can connect with anyone on any level.
A real free spirit who cares a lot for humanity & animals alike.
Her passion is to help support & empower others on their path to health & wellness and to leave this world in a better state than when she came into it.
Since the age of 5, Rebecca has suffered from Crohn's Disease, an inflammatory bowel disease that affects over 115,000 people in the UK alone.
Crohn’s Disease is a chronic condition that causes inflammation of the digestive system or gut. It can affect any part of the gut, though the most common area affected is the end of the ileum (the last part of the small intestine), or the colon. Crohn's does not discriminate, it affects people of all ages, including children.
The majority of Rebecca’s life was spent in & out of hospital.
She has also undergone 4 major abdominal operations- 2 of which were emergencies, numerous procedures & have been pumped full of pharmaceuticals that have taken its toll on her body. It’s safe to say her medical notes are rather bulky…
When nurses see her notes, they always think they were away to deal with an older person but nope just Wee Rebecca.
Throughout this, Rebecca’s battled with PTSD, severe anxiety, chronic stress, insomnia & depression just to name a few.
Then in late 2016 she was also diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, another chronic illness which is very debilitating.
The help available on the NHS for this condition is extremely limited & in most cases old school anti-depressants & pain-killers are prescribed, which is not ideal.
After 2 days of trying these prescriptions her body started reacting & rejecting them. It was like her body had reached its limit- enough was enough.
That Christmas Rebecca suddenly started reacting to many foods & quickly realised she needed to get to the root causes & heal herself via a natural, holistic route.
There was no way she was going to spend the rest of her life with two very debilitating, very painful conditions.
That’s when Wee both started researching heavily.
During our research, Wee discovered that CBD could potentially help with Rebecca’s Fibromyalgia, so Wee purchased some & she started using it daily.
There was a lot of trial & error & big differences between brands.
Wee quickly noticed that not all CBD products are created equal, in fact, some are not even worthy of the title of “A CBD Product”.
There is a lot of cowboys jumping on the CBD bandwagon with sub-par CBD products & quite frankly lies about their products & unsubstantiated claims, navigating the murky waters was challenging.
Along with CBD, Rebecca looked at all aspects of her life & set herself a year to focus purely on getting better.
Now, she is trained in a host of holistic therapies & has adopted a mind, body, soul & spirit approach to life.
In Sept 2017, she managed to come off all pharmaceuticals for her Crohn's – which is a 1st since she was 5yrs old, & has the tools in place to help her through everyday life.
Since this, her Drs have been very interested to know what she’s been up to…
The brains & management of The Wee Hemp Company. Calum is outgoing, fun loving & again free spirited. He can usually be found in the hills of Scotland with Mylo (The Wee Hemp Dog) hiking come rain or shine.
Calum loves nothing better than getting up at the crack of dawn, loading up the car & heading out to see this beautiful country of ours.
Calum used to work offshore in Angola & lived in Abu Dhabi. Coming from Aberdeen, the oil capital of Europe, this career path is well trodden. In 2015 he was made redundant, a familiar story to many in the industry, and decided he no longer wanted to work for a big multinational corporation. Working for an oil company never sat well with him, the damage being done to the world through the oil industry really took its toll on his conscious, he wanted to be part of the solution, not the problem. Being made redundant was the Wee kick up the arse required to make the necessary life & career changes for a more fulfilling life....and here Wee are.
